This was only the first of a series of very successful projects run in collaboration with Balzac Paris, a pret-à-porter brand made in France. This brand has the particularity of building its image around French classical literature.
This gave birth to the Couples Littéraires collection – a set of clothing items designed around famous French literary couples such as Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre for instance.
In the line of this first project, my new brief was to combine a strong french symbol to their iconic logo “les couples littéraires”. In a effort to give a second wind to the traditional “marinière” I chose to draw the lines myself to add a neglected feminine touch and bolster the glamour of the collection. It was then declined over a whole set of tote bags, cards and candles.
